George Stevens, Jr. to Receive Academy Award
The producer, director, and author of, most recently, Conversations at the American Film Institute with the Great Moviemakers, will receive an Honorary Academy Award, voted the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences last week.
The Academy wrote in their press release: “George Stevens, Jr. has spent a lifetime celebrating and preserving the heritage of motion pictures. After several years at the United States Information Agency, Stevens went on to become the founding director of the American Film Institute. In 1977, Stevens co-founded the Kennedy Center Honors, which he has produced and written for the past 34 years.”
